I need a joy saturation every morning . . . and all throughout the day. So I make sure to take “breaks” where I lean back against the Lord and just breathe in His love.

Like many, I start out good, but need a regular breaks of nourishment from heaven — even as we pause for meals through the day. I found the following very inspirational.

George Muller lived the first 20 years of his life in a most ungodly manner. Then following his conversion for next 10 years he did better, but not too profitably.

When he was 30, he ran across a biography on the life of George Whitefield, which majored on “Bible Meditation.” George Muller immediately incorporated this into his daily devotions. It transformed his life. Because God is no respecter of persons, it can do the same for you and me. Following is his testimony when he was 36, which even is an improvement on George Whitefield.

SOUL NOURISHMENT FIRST – George Muller (p. 152, his autobiography)

It has pleased the Lord to teach me a truth, the benefit of which I have not lost for more than fourteen years. The point is this: I saw more clearly than ever that the first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day was, to have my soul happy in the Lord (remember this is 1800s language, so happy is more probably joyful as we think of it today). The first thing to be concerned about was not how much I might serve the Lord, or how I might glorify the Lord; but how I might get my soul into a happy state, and how my inner man might be nourished. For I might seek to set the truth before the unconverted, I might seek to benefit believers, I might seek to relieve the distresses, I might in other ways seek to behave myself as it becomes a child of God in this world; and yet, not being happy in the Lord, and not being nourished and strengthened in my inner man day by day, all this might not be attended to in a right spirit. Before this time my practice has been, at least for ten years previously, as a habitual thing, to give myself to prayer after having dressed myself in the morning. Now I saw that the most important thing I had to do was to give myself to the reading of the Word of God, and to meditate on it, that thus my heart might be comforted, encouraged, warned, reproved, instructed; and that thus, by means of the Word of God, while meditating on it, my heart be brought into experimental communion with the Lord.

I began therefore to meditate on the New Testament from the beginning early in the morning. The first thing I did, after having asked in a few words the Lord’s blessing upon His precious Word, was to begin to meditate on the Word of God, searching as it were into every verse to get blessing out of it; not for the sake of the public ministry of the Word, not for the sake of preaching on what I meditated upon, but for the sake of obtaining food for my own soul. The result I have found to be almost invariably this, that after a very few minutes my soul has been led to confession, or to thanksgiving, or to intercession, or to supplication; so that, though I did not, as it were, give myself to prayer, but to meditation, yet it turned almost immediately more or less into prayer. When thus I have been for a while making confession or intercession or supplication, or have given thanks, I go on to the next words or verse, turning all as I go into prayer for myself or others, as the Word may lead to it, but still continually keeping before me that food for my own soul is the object of my meditation. The result of this is, that there is always a good deal of confession, thanksgiving, supplication, or intercession mingled with my meditation, and that my inner man almost invariably is even sensibly nourished and strengthened, and that by breakfast time, with rare exceptions, I am in a peaceful if not happy state of heart. Thus also the Lord is pleased to communicate unto me that which, either very soon after or at a later time, I have found to become food for other believers, though it was not for the sake of the public ministry of the word that I gave myself to meditation, but for the profit of my own inner man.

With this mode I have likewise combined the being out in the open air for an hour, and hour and a half, or two hours, before breakfast, walking about in the fields. In the summer sitting for a little on the stiles, if I find it too much to walk all the time. I find it very beneficial to my health to walk thus for meditation before breakfast, and am now so in the habit of using the time for that purpose, that when I get into the open air, I generally take out a New Testament of good size type, which I carry with me for that purpose, besides my Bible; and I find that I can profitably spend my time in the open air, which formerly was not the case for want of habit. I used to consider the time spent in walking a loss, but now I find it very profitable, not only to my body, but also to my soul. The walking out before breakfast is, of course, not necessarily connected with this matter, and everyone has to judge according to his strength and other circumstances. The difference, then between my former practice and my present one is this: formerly, when I rose, I began to pray as soon as possible, and generally spent all my time till breakfast in prayer, or almost all the time. At all events I almost invariably began with prayer, except when I felt my soul to be more than usually barren, in which case I read the Word of God for food, or for refreshment, or for a revival and renewal of my inner man, before I gave myself to prayer. But what was the result? I often spent a quarter of an hour, or half hour, or even one hour on my knees, before being conscious to myself of having derived comfort, encouragement, humbling of soul, etc., and often after having suffered much from wandering of mind for the first ten minutes, or quarter of an hour, or even half an hour, I only then began really to pray. I scarcely ever suffer now in this way. For my heart being nourished by the truth, being brought into experimental fellowship with God, I speak to my Father and to my Friend (vile though I am, and unworthy of it) about the things that He has brought before me in His precious Word. It often now astonished me that I did not sooner see this point. In no book did I ever read about it. No public ministry ever brought the matter before me. No private intercourse with a brother stirred me up to this matter. And, yet now, since God has taught me this point, it is as plain to me as anything, that the first thing the child of God has to do morning by morning is, to obtain food for his inner man. As the outward man is not fit for work for any length of time except we take food, and as this is one of the first things we do in the morning, so it should be with the inner man. We should take food for that, as everyone must allow. Now, what is the food for the inner man? Not prayer, but the Word of God; and here again, not the simple reading of the Word of God, so that it only passes through our minds, just as water runs through a pipe, but considering what we read, pondering over it, and applying it to our hearts. When we pray, we speak to God. Now, prayer, in order to be continued for any length of time in any other than a formal manner, requires, generally speaking a measure of strength or godly desire, and the season, therefore, when this exercise of the soul can be most effectively performed is after the inner man has been nourished by meditation on the Word of God, where we find our Father speaking to us, to encourage us, to comfort us, to instruct us, to humble us, to reprove us. We may therefore profitably meditate, with God’s blessing, though we are ever so weak spiritually; no, the weaker we are, the more we need meditation for the strengthening of our inner man. Thus there is far less to be feared from wandering of mind than if we give ourselves to prayer without having had time previously for meditation. I dwell so particularly on this point because of the immense spiritual profit and refreshment I am conscious of having derived from it myself, and I affectionately and solemnly beseech all my fellow believers to ponder this matter. By the blessing of God, I ascribe to this mode the help and strength which I have had from God to pass in peace through deeper trials, in various ways, than I had ever had before; and after having now about fourteen years tried this way, I can most fully, in the fear of God, commend it. In addition to this I generally read, after family prayer, larger portions of the Word of God, when I still pursue my practice of reading regularly onward in the Holy Scriptures, sometimes in the New Testament and sometimes in the Old, and for more than twenty-six years I have proved the blessedness of it. I take also, either then or at other parts of the day, time more especially for prayer.

How different, when the soul is refreshed and made happy early in the morning, from what it is when, without spiritual preparation, the service, the trials, and the temptations of the day come upon me.

Me playing for a city-wide concert in 1970.

December 1st is the day I call my “spiritual birthday.” It marks the moment when Jesus surprised me with His invitation into a deeper relationship. This morning I wrote this in my journal as I considered the past 44 years of my spiritual journey.

THANK YOU!

Abba, Jesus, Holy Spirit —

Thank You for invading my life with Yours.

Thank you for purpose — my reason to live well.

Thank you for joy. No more mourning.

Thank you for making all things new.

You put me on a fast track into the pleasures of Your presence — a road that no one or nothing could hinder the pre-established course You determined for me long before time began.

Thank you for the Cross, and Your blood — my default position and fountain of cleansing.

Take me lower — into the heights of Who You are.

Take me deeper — into the mysteries and treasures You have hidden for me to discover.

Take me wider — to the know the breath of Your love.

Take me further — way beyond what I hoped for or imagined possible…by Your immeasurable grace.

Thank You Abba, Jesus, Holy Spirit — for adopting me permanently into Your home. I love belonging to You and I love being loved by You.

Let my life be a song of gratitude to You that always — in every situation — says, “Thank You!”

In the deep of night

When fears are magnified

And darkness can be felt

When weariness displaces

Clarity of mind

And all the senses are dulled

In the deep of night

When sleep paralyzes every muscle

And dreams come without invitation

With eyes wide open

When the head nods involuntarily

Begging to lie down

In the depths of unconsciousness

It begins…

The ceaseless whispers of fear

Startling every cell to awaken

The body slowed in its sleep-mode

Thrown in reverse with a quickened heart

And a terror response

To the sinister voices—the chatter of hell!—

“You are doooooooomed…!

This is it!

Your end has come….”

It echoes repeatedly

With full-color images to prove its validity

And in the deep of night

I struggle against its strangling reasonings

Gasping for air

Grasping for Truth—

The only One who can deliver me,

The Most Powerful One,

The Almighty! Blessed be He!—

The One who is Light

Displacing all darkness,

All fears,

All terrors in the deep of night.

In a pitiful whimper

I call out loud

As the tears fall

And my heart meditates—

He will have the last word—

Yeshuah  ישועה —“salvation.”

I speak His name

And consider the Truth

My soul knows oh so well.

His presence releases penetrating Light

And in Him

There is no darkness, or terror, or doom.

In Him is the fullness of all my joy.

In Him is my freedom from all fear.

My eternal dawn has already broken:

“I trust in You alone, Jesus,

In the deep of night.”

With a swift, backhanded, teeth-shattering slap,

All is silenced

As I hear His power-words crush the lies

And scatter the sinister ones:

“Who is this that dares speak lies to my bride?”

His voice thunders across the realm

His Presence quiets me

His Face shields me

And His radiance dispels the darkness with Truth.

“My Beloved!” my heart sings out—

Every cell of my being

Now fully awakened

To praise.

He alone is my life

And He alone holds my day and the deep of night—

The Great I AM.

Wheat fields in Egypt

Not long ago I dreamed I was walking through a huge field. It seemed to go on for as far as the eye could see. It was at night, but the full moon was so brilliant and so huge, it took up much of the sky so that it seemed to be as bright as day.

Full moon over the ripe wheat fields

I was walking within the field of ripe wheat, my hand stroking the tops of the kernels. In my mind I knew that tomorrow the combines would come and harvest all the ripened wheat. The stars above me were so brilliant, the sight of them took my breath away. They seemed unusually close to earth.

Passing through the field, I came to a dirt road where a large white van was parked, the side door opened. I climbed in, closed the door, all the while my eyes never left the white field of grain.

Why didn’t I take a few stalks of wheat with me? I thought as we pulled away from the field. I could have kept some with me as a reminder of this place.

Upon awakening, I immediately thought of the symbolism in my dream. I considered their significance. I also felt God was showing me the harvest fields of the Middle East that were on my heart, particularly Egypt. It seems when God puts a nation – or nations – on your heart, He will make sure that you receive all you need to fulfill His purposes.

Egypt is certainly on the verge of an incredible harvest, even in the midst of their storm.

We believe this harvest will affect the whole of the region and we are privileged to be engaged in this process.

In addition, we have been engaged with the people of South Sudan for several years now, beginning in Israel when refugees began to flood in. Since the birth of the Republic of South Sudan recently, God is highlighting this nation with its potential in the whole of Africa as well as the coming harvest.

African Wheat Harvest

Whenever God highlights a nation, I believe it is always an invitation for us to be engaged with God’s purposes.

Ron’s Vision

At breakfast, I began to describe my dream to Ron. Then he relayed to me what happened as he awakened just that morning. He had a vision of a ripe wheat field that was completely white – ready for harvesting! Because he grew up in Wichita, he recognized a ripened wheat field.

Ready for Harvest

We both sat there stunned at the realization that God had given us the very same image within a few hours of each other. This was truly significant, and God had our full attention!

Green Light: GO!

I like what Graham Cooke says: “You have a green light from God, unless He gives you a red light!” In other words, permission has been granted to you, unless you hear otherwise.

In regards to the nations of the world, Jesus already gave us a green light.

Anything other than a fully engaged response to this mandate is an excuse!

I read a blog entry this week by David Sitton that really arrested my attention in regards to our partnering with God’s purposes in the nations.

I was never called to be [a Christian worker in a foreign land], nor was I drafted. I volunteered. No special call was needed. I chose to go; I wanted to go; I was compelled to go. And where I go is always determined by an open Bible and a stretched-out map of the regions where Christ is still unknown and un-praised!

I chuckle when I hear [foreign Christian workers] and pastors talk about “surrendering to the call” of ministry. I always want to ask, “After you surrendered, were you water-boarded, or just hauled off in handcuffs and leg irons?” Was it really necessary for you to be abducted by a heavenly vision before you would go into the work of the gospel?

The [foreign Christian worker] call is not like a prison dog that tracks us down, sniffs us out, and hog-ties us for the nations. That is silly-talk and really bad theology. Nowhere in Scripture is a mysterious (supernatural) call a prerequisite before we can respond to the Great Commission. The opposite is actually true.

No aspect of mission is more bogged down with extra-biblical baggage than the “…call.”  The clear command of Christ “to go” should be, by itself, sufficient to set you on your way “into all the world . . . proclaiming the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15). You can’t go wrong by trying to go. Trust the Lord to direct your moving feet . . . If you have it in your heart to go, then go. Then, lean on the sovereignty of God to get you where he wants you in the harvest. Don’t worry about “running ahead of God.” You aren’t that quick! (Read full article. The Wheat fields in Ethiopia

What’s Your Nation?

God has put a nation (or a people) on your heart . . . I know He has because He wants to love people through you. Perhaps you are unable to go to that nation, but, if you ask Him, God will bring the peoples of that nation to you!  And, with technology today, you can easily plug in and find the peoples on your heart! God will do this for you in surprising ways, but you have to go after it.

I’ve learned that when you are intentional about following through with what God shows you, you can expect to see Him answer supernaturally.

Yesterday I was considering that everything in my life given to me by God is for this intent and purpose: The Harvest. God has provided every possible thing I could need to be succesful in this task that He is passionate about. And Jesus set the example:

“Then Jesus went to all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness” (Matt 9:35).

Jesus’ whole message was about good news; He didn’t frame God’s intentions to Israel with a description of how undeserving they were. Rather, He gave them the good news of the kingdom, and then demonstrated it by healing everyone of their disease and sickness. The kingdom of Heaven had just showed up to displace the enemy’s kingdom of darkness and suffering. That’s our message too: The Good news of the kingdom of God, and healing the sick and oppressed.

“When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd” (vs 36, 27)

Jesus was compelled to displace their sadness and misery with joy and healing from His kingdom.  Satan had worn them down long enough.  When Jesus showed up that day, he didn’t wonder if God wanted to heal anybody! It was his mission to destroy the works of the enemy. He demonstrated how to lead like a Good Shepherd: Lovingly care for the sheep by anointing them with healing oil, and lead gently them to eat to their satisfaction.

“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest'” (vs 37, 38).

In other words, the fields are white, boys! Let’s go! Come on . . . Get out the combines . . . put on your work clothes! Gather the volunteers, hire some workers to get this harvest in! And, pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send out the workers into the hot, dry fields to finish this work!

Lord of the Harvest: Send out workers into Your harvest! Fill them with your compassion!

Then pray this prayer:

Here I am!! Why don’t you send me?

Compelled by Passion!

I volunteered to go to the nations and serve in the harvest over 40 years ago. My service has led me to many, many nations and people groups. Over the years, I became much more motivated by a deep compassion and love for people of all nations, tribes, and languages. Today, I have to say that I am compelled by Jesus’ passion to mine the fields for the treasures that are His inheritance alone. I long to see people love Him passionately and exclusively with all of their mind, heart, strength, and soul.

My passion is to create an environment where His presence and healing are manifested.

When I see the fire in His eyes, I want to embrace someone with that  love. There is no valid excuse not to go when you have a fresh revelation of who He really is.

Unless I see a red light, my bags are packed, my passport is current, and I am volunteering to harvest the next ripe field.

“If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”

–C.S.Lewis

Something special is happening around the world today . . . something never before seen.

Brian McLaren’s book A New Kind of Christianity brings clarity when he writes about the emergence of the Modern Era in the 1500s. Modernism began as the Middle Ages were ushered out. Many great things were exchanged replacing those less desirable. It is good that fear and superstition lost out to logical thinking. However, much was lost as Modernism’s Age of Reason stole imagination, intuition, and the arts under the sway of rationality. Imagination was ripped from the Church and enshrined in Disney-like children’s theme parks and labeled “insignificant,” particularly in the arena of religion.

A new generation is now moving beyond modernism to a new way of looking at the world. One of the advantages of the move called Post-Modernism is a move toward restoring the good that suffered at the hands of rationality.

The Age of Reason killed imagination, intuition, and the arts. This generation is taking back all that was stolen. Though I’m not young, I must join them in the restoration because it will usher in a move of God never before seen in the history of the Church.

I have determined to loose over myself the following declarations:

  • I declare anointing and liberation for my imagination in the Holy Spirit.
  • I loose and anoint my feelings.
  • I  loose and consecrate my intuition, turning it to the prophetic and the Seer in me.
  • I will embrace mystery.
  • I will hear from God, not just daily, but constantly (i.e., as did Brother Lawrence who wrote the book Practicing the Presence of God).
  • I will walk in the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • I will impart what is freely given me into the hands of others for ministry.
  • I declare my love like white phosphorous for Jesus alone.
  • I am a prisoner of hope (Zech 9:12); stolen things will be returned double.
  • I will imagine day and night how to “walk out the Kingdom on earth.”
  • I will mentor men who are burning with the fire of God.
  • I will entertain angels who stomp the backs of enemy forces because their defenses have been removed (i.e., Caleb in Numbers 14).
  • I will dance with Him as He dances and sings over me (Zeph. 3:17).
  • I will spread out to the right and left (Isa. 54).
  • I will dispossess nations.
  • I will be inflamed by holiness.
  • I am God’s fire.

The final declaration over myself came as I sat on the beach overhearing the conversation of a wind surfing instructor. Sometimes, I get Holy Spirit instructions from the most amazing sources. This instructor was physically moving the body of a student to make him feel how he needed to lean into the wind toward the nose of his board.

“You have to eat the nose of your board!” he said. “If you hold back, you’ll be on your back in the surf.”

With those words ringing in my mind, I determined that:

  • I will lean hard into Him until I pass the point of no return; either He saves me, or I self destruct.

It is not time to hold back. The Spirit is saturating the atmosphere with an unction to press forward into a fullness not yet seen at any time in the history of the Church. That unction is being felt in the most unlikely places and the feeling is electric, out of control, and otherworldly.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, and that one thing I seek…to know You…

There is coming a day – and is already here – when others will look to us with an expectation that we lead them to safety. It will be a time where we will already be dressed and ready to serve the needs of many. I call us “First Responders.”

“Be ready for service and have your lamps lit” (Luke 12:35-4 HCSB).

Who are the first responders? These are the ones who have been trained, equipped, ready to go into any situation and rescue the injured. In Israel, the first responders were everyday people who went about their jobs; but in an emergency, they were easily identifiable and ready to move into their trained position – night or day.

We are spiritual first responders. We will be those who have practiced living as victors and not victims in each and every crisis exercise that we have walked through thus far in our life. Our mindset is well established so that no matter what comes along – economic or political shifts, natural disasters, wars, earthquakes, famines, floods, “accidents,” illnesses – our eyes are fixed upon the Lord and we are full of faith for His salvation, healing, deliverance, provision. We know that we live in a different Kingdom, under the economy and provision of Heaven that sets us apart from earthly kingdom’s circumstances.

With recent world events, many of us feel that we have been called to a special “high” alert in these days.

“Those servants the master will find alert when he comes will be blessed…If he comes in the middle of the night, or even near dawn, and finds them alert, those servants are blessed” (Luke 12:37-38 HCSB).

Seek the Lord!

About three and a half years ago, I had an urgent appeal in my heart from the Spirit of the Lord: “Seek the Lord while He may be found!” It was an urgency that came with a sense that I needed to drop everything and be shut away with the Lord to hear what He had to say to my heart. I did that, and the results were nothing less than transformational in my heart and life. I dealt with many issues of my past and present that made way for the future God was moving me into. It was an intense transitional phase of my life.

I got the sense then that only as we heed His urgings to come apart for awhile to seek the Lord will we be adequately prepared for what is ahead that we cannot see, but He can. Whenever the Lord says “Seek my Face!” it is because He intends to show us something valuable in His character that we desperately need. As we see Him with more clarity, this revelation of His character has the ability to transform our heart and be established deep within our core to alter the course of our life by changing our ways, and not simply modifying our behavior.

I have found that a season to seek the Lord opens my spiritual ears to hear Him with a new clarity and opens my eyes to see him as He is. I have come to appreciate a fresh, daily revelation of who God is to me, which fuels a momentum towards His Presence.  Faith to trust Him in today’s impossible situation will be strengthened as we measure it against the greatness of our God.

Called Into His Presence

One particular night in recent weeks, I did not sleep well. I kept waking up about every 2 hours. I was curious about that because normally I sleep very well. But I have come to learn that in such times, I simply commune with the Lord and am drawn directly into His Presence as I worship Him. I was taken by surprise at the intensity that I felt in God’s presence all night long. I got little sleep this night, and when I did fall asleep, the dreams were about the Lord. I awakened with such a sense of the Presence of the Holy Spirit that through many tears, I rededicated my life to Him as I lay on my bed. I was still puzzled about this amazing night in the Presence of God as I got up at 6:30 that morning.

Passing by my office, I noticed that my phone had messages waiting from my eldest daughter in Hawaii. That’s odd . . . Her text from around 1:00 am read: “Evacuating up to the highest point of the island!” My mind could not take in what would have happened that she was being evacuated on Maui! I rushed to my laptop in the living room and read the news headlines about the 9.0 earthquake in Japan and the Tsunami warnings issued all around across the Pacific. Oh no!! There was no cell reception as I tried to reach my daughter.

In that moment, I understood my night. There is a posture that we take in the Presence of the Lord 24/7 that allows God access to our spirit where we come into agreement with Him. Most times as we pray, we really have no concept of the power that is going forth as we are postured before the Lord. I have come to realize that God will intentionally draw us into His presence into a deep season of worship, adoration, and intercession, and only later do we understand the significance of that time spent alone with God in the secret place. In such times, the shalom of God settles upon our hearts that holds us through the stress of the unexpected.

Upgrade Needed

I determined to receive an upgrade from the night of the Japanese earthquake when I laid awake in God’s presence. I would like to have much more sensitivity to what is on God’s heart. So, I came up with a list of questions to ask the Lord in a future similar situation:

What do you have for me at this time?

  • A specific family member?
  • A nation? A city?
  • Is there something you would like to speak to me about?

In this way, we are more intentional as we wait in God’s presence to see the focus He may lead us into. I have learned that a period of adoration of Jesus, and exalting Him above all earthly kings and kingdoms establishes an atmosphere of a high level of praise that is productive against the plans of the kingdom of darkness – routing the enemy of our souls, and our families – without me even being aware of anything specific.

I have had times where God awakened me with a clear impression to pray for a specific family member, only to learn the reason the next day – or days following. He’s just good that way.

In this moment, however, I felt I was in need of an upgrade. I truly want a keener sensitivity to the Spirit of God – with ears to hear, and eyes to see (Revelation 2:29).

The Nations

Following the initial news of the catastrophe unfolding in Japan, I began to move into my familiar pattern of praying for a nation in crisis. Having lived in Israel 20 years, I learned how to “watch and pray,” which often meant, watching the news live, while reading my open Bible with my spirit engaged praying. I prayed this way through countless bus bombings in Israel, wars on Israel’s borders, the Iraqi war, 9/11, etc. In addition, maintaining a 24/7 vigilance in the presence of God as we pray for a friend or family member through a crisis or illness is a solid way of standing for them. Praying in faith means that we often pray opposite of what we see with our eyes! We are crying out for God’s mercy and for Him to work miraculously in the midst of distressing impossibilities.

I have a particular interest in Japan. When I was 18 and in Bible School, I became best friends with an Okinawan girl and since we were both musicians and singers, we often sang together. She went on to become a well-known Christian recording artist in Japan. My friend invited me 3 times to minister and sing with her throughout Japan. I also traveled with her on the West Coast and Hawaii ministering and singing in the Japanese churches. So, this earthquake in Japan was not just statistics for me, but rather, I had specific people I was concerned about. I continued my vigilance every day praying as God led. I’m still praying for Japan, and I know you are too. God loves the Japanese people and I believe they are about to experience His manifested presence in a powerful way. Let’s continue to pray for God interventions on all fronts – spiritually as well. That has been the heart cry of the Japanese for decades as they have never experienced a national spiritual revival.

I believe God wants us to have a heart-engagement with the nations. He loves the people of these nations and we are His connection to them. There have been numerous times when God has given me dreams about nations – prior to some catastrophe, disaster, or war – and I realize it is to bring a prayer focus for the people of that particular part of the world. Weeks before Egypt erupted, for instance, I had two dreams – one about the sun exploding. Around the same time, I had a dream about a huge tidal wave that broke over a coastal city. I’m learning to pay closer attention as God continues to show me things about nations, cities, and families. And, I’m going for an upgrade.

Friends of God

As we mature in our relationship with the Lord, our intimate communion with Him in the secret place as the friend of God allows Him to impress upon us the urgent needs on His heart. We can train ourselves to become very responsive to the Lord. By turning our hearts towards Him 24/7, we are telling Him: “Here I am . . . just to be with You.” God longs to share secrets with His friends in the secret place.

His friends become the first responders.

And, how desperately the world needs expressions of God’s merciful compassion as the first response to disasters, famines, earthquakes, and injustice.

This is dedicated to all the silent heroes who are selflessly serving those in desperate need . . .
